For the next phase in this project i am going to apply the ideas i have had into a film. this will be semi autobiographical (if that's the right phrase). The reason i like to work with toys and sometimes in animation is because you have complete control. That is what i think i liked so much about my action figures when i was a child.
for the film i will focus on an event, that may or may not have happened. I watched a lot of films during the 1980's such as Back to the Future, Teen Wolf, Risky Business, Ferris Bueller's Day off etc... A key feature in a lot of 80's movies set around school was the underdog always faling to fit in with the popular crowd but eventually coming out on top and the "popular" crowd getting their comeuppance, a sort of movie karma.
I have a vague memory of such an event where i had my chance to make it and i blew it (in the popular crowds eyes) only for me to have the last laugh, figuratively.
Later i will be posting some "rushes" of work so far. It will be my intention to film the scenes in both animation and real life to see which gives the desired result.
The lack of control you have over the real world is in complete opposition to that of the imagination also fascinates me and will form part of this peice.
